We are a class of year 6, 7 and 8 learners at Matawai School in Gisborne, where the hills are high and the sky is the limit. Mrs Bennett and Mrs Allan are our teachers.
Our World War 1 writing and art work up on the walls, looking amazing! The most challenging aspect of the art work was creating a detailed stencil of a war image. Many children chose an image that corresponded with their personal 'wonderings' and research.

Kia ora Kakapo class Thanks for the great comments on our art.
We used paint and sponges to create our sunset backgrounds. We then used light card to draw a war image and carefully cut them out to get the silhouette then painted them in black.
We also did an inquiry about World War 1 and every student chose one aspect of the war that interested them like, the role of animals, vehicles, weaponry, nursing etc.
Thank you for your positive, thoughtful, helpful comments. Positive - something done well Thoughtful - a sentence to let us know you actually read/watched or listened to what they had to say Helpful - give some ideas for next time or ask a question you want to know more about
